The Invisible Man
H.G. Wells

Take no mind of the strange relationship between my family name, and that of our antagonist in this, one of the oddest and most disturbing tales from the pen of H. G. Wells. For “The Invisible Man,” who was in his past life, a promising scientist struck with albinism and loathe for mankind generally, seeks to reign terror upon the village folk of an otherwise unremarkable beach town in southern England. And while I felt an odd…kinship…is that the right word? No, not kinship but perhaps a duty, yes…a…duty, to give voice to this madman (and his wacky boyfriend Mr. Thomas Marvel) so then here be the sounds created when ingenuity strikes the bar of madness in an effort to slake the steel!

Book cover of 'All Quiet on the Western Front' by Erich Maria Remarque, narrated by George Griffin, featuring a soldier in a war-torn landscape using a mobile device.

All Quiet On The Western Front
Erich Maria Remarque

Perhaps there is no better known, more studied and more potent anti-war novel than “All Quiet…” So real, so authentic an account of the horrors of World War One, written from the perspective of a young German soldier in the desperate trenches of European battlefields, that it was banned by the German Nazi government in 1933. They burned this beautifully written and powerful book in the streets. Today it is required reading in literature classrooms and among our military institutions - with good reason. Too often we mistake the costs of war and forget the young men and women who fight and die in our names. It was important to me personally, as a journalist who once covered the war in Iraq, telling stories of our heroes ‘in the trenches,’ to take great care in bringing this important book to life with my voice.

Dark, eerie jungle landscape with large, glowing-eyed creatures and an ominous house or temple atop a hill, with waves crashing below and crows flying overhead. Text reads 'The Island of Doctor Moreau by H.G. Wells, narrated by George Griffin.'

The Island of Doctor Moreau
H.G. Wells

This was a super fun book to narrate, not just because it is SO weird a story but for all the wonderful character voices that appear throughout the novel. In this one book I got to be a mad scientist, his hapless drunk assistant, and quite literally a raftful of half-man/half-beast monstrosities, ready to tear apart our desperate narrator, Edward Prendick, at any turn. Perhaps the biggest challenge was pulling off one really nasty lisp through nearly the entire book. An H. G. Wells classic of gothic sci-fi; it's a frightening and desperate morality tale of what happens when science goes horribly awry.

DOCUMENTARY
DDay Diorama Installation

In 2024 the famous artist and storyteller Keith Rocco created a powerful 1/100th scale diorama depicting the Omaha beach landings to help mark the 80th anniversary of the June 6, 1944 Allied invasion of Normandy. Keith is a master of capturing the imagery of war through rich paintings, detailed murals and models like his D-Day diorama which appeared in museums and memorials across the country in celebration of that day in history. I was honored to narrate the video accompaniment backgrounder reel. This video is a sample.
